Hmmmm.

The results from the state fair just went up.

The lace got a second place. The Blue Shimmer didn't place at all.

We go up Saturday to 'do the fair', and I will check out the other entries then. Ranting, if appropriate, to commence Saturday night. I did see that the person who won 'best of show' for knitting is the person who beat me in the lace division. So it better be something fantastical, is all I've got to say.

Many of these contests are 'thrown' by the judges, who are the sisters/aunts/cousins/husbands to the people entering. I'm also wondering if that has any bearing on this.

But never fear; I shall check all this out Saturday and take photos.

If needed I will give you guys the e-mail address to the judging coordinator. Heh heh heh.

EDITED TO ADD: One of the reasons I'm so cranky about that second in the lace division is, they award more than one first, if they think it's warranted. They COULD have given me and the other chick firsts, by their rules. So if that doily was second-place work, I REALLY want to see what first-place work is. The husbeast's comment, "Hers was probably bigger" is likely true, unless someone knit a freakin' Shetland wedding ring shawl. In which case, I will shut the hell up.

I saw that doily. I loved that doily. Sometimes, in the middle of the day, I just think about that doily. This is wrong, so very wrong!!!

Blue Shimmer was also robbed. But it was cursed and this might have been a factor. But it was beautiful and cursed and that should have counted for something.

You've more than won the blog vote!!!!!

I bet the Blue Shimmer, they looked at it and said, "It's too short, don't give her a ribbon." Not thinking that the recipient might be short as well.

Trolls. All of them.

I gasped when I saw that doily. It's gorgeous! From the looks of the winners blog I think the husbeast must be right and they went w the bigger item. As far as the blue shimmer goes, I bet they don't believe you knit that by hand. Or maybe the woman that inquired about the pattern when you dropped it off decided to liberate it from the case? That or the judges are on crack. Its probably the crack.

Speaking of crack, I just realized that the blog I saw belongs to another second place finisher and not the 1st place one. Yeah, this is why I don't post comments.

I noticed that there was no "Sweater, Ladies" division - maybe they forgot or something???? I hope for her sake that she DID make a wedding ring shawl, or she's going to have to deal with all the bad blogger mojo coming her way.

Ooohhh...I bet it's just like breaking into publishing... you've got to blow, bed or bug the judges until things swing your way, and you, sweetie, are just to good a person to do any of that... That sweater was frickin' awesome... It deserved a ribbon in any world I know about.
