Back to knitting.

Working on the Knitty Project last night, I had this very subversive thought. "What's the point of it being the Year of Me if I don't knit what I #(@#ing want to??" The whole concept went to my head, and before I knew it,

I'd cast on 51 stitches and knit an entire pattern repeat. That's the "Curved Shawl with Diamond Edging" from "Victorian Lace Today", page 72. And the Neon Flamingo yarn. On a size two/3mm needle.

I'm telling myself it's needed practice, so I don't ruin the handspun laceweight that Bells sent me. In truth, I think I knit lace so many years that I feel weird if I don't do some regularly. The last lace I knit was the mohair scarf fiasco, before Christmas. And that wasn't really lace, it was hell.

What's one more unfinished project around here?

Yesterday, I was so thrilled with the yarn purchases (thank you all) that I went on over to Paradise Fibers and bought a Becka Swift. It should make winding off these extra long skeins for the dip-dyes go much faster and more easily, and result in more dip dyed yarns for you guys. Yay!

And now, I have to go chart this Knitty project. Sigh. I hate that.

Ooh, I can't wait to see how your shawl comes out. I'm dying to make that one. You picked a gorgeous color.

is that the really long red one I've seen in photos??? Wow.

A swift will change your life!

It's a half-round that doesn't look knit at first glance - even to me, and I've knit a LOT of lace. And it turns out, the pattern's really easy, too. Or at least as easy as two-row lace gets.

I experimented last night with using Excel to chart an argyle sock. What a pain in the a$$! I know there's a software program out there that's much easier, but I have to work my way through using much harder ways of doing things.

I am going to watch your progress on this one. I am keen to try that pattern, but I have almost no lace experience. I'll see how yours turns out before I brave it!

Wow. That's some color! I love it. It screams, "Listen to me NOW!" (or "hey there sexy fella, why don't you lift my veil."

I'll be curious to know how the swift works out. It's different from the ones I've seen and used in my LYS.

Have the book.
Looked at the pattern.
Went "holy CRAP."
Closed the book.
You are a brave and adventuresome woman.
