My mojo has returned.

The weekend's dyeing:

From the top, Primrose, Tribble, and Practically Purple. All laceweight. You know you're doing well when you want to keep everything you've dyed. (The Tribble wound up with minimal fuss, once I got it on the swift properly. It was getting it on the swift that was tricky.)

And what is this?

Why, it's knitting. For a Knitty pattern, so this is just a teaser. (Netter, the yarn is glorious. FANTASTIC. I don't think I've ever knit up pure alpaca before. It's almost as nice as reeled mulberry silk. In a way, even better because it's not nearly so fragile. Looooove it. Thank you again.) So obviously it's my own design. Wanna hear something fun? According to one refrence I have, I've got juuuust enough yarn to knit this project. According to another, I'm 400 yards short. For my own refrence, I knit up one skein of yarn, measured how many square inches it produced, then figured out how many square inches were in the sweater, did some division... and by MY figures (I checked twice after I got the answer), I've got FIVE HUNDRED YARDS EXTRA. Even allowing for my iffy math skills, someone's been smoking something not quite legal, if you get me. And it hasn't been me.

As for my hand, well, I'm tinkering with my medication again. (Bad side effects.) If anyone remembers the cuss-fest of last July, we may be holding another one soon. If you're new to the blog, you're in for a... well, not a treat. Laugh, maybe. If you think creative swearing is funny. But the bottom line is, so far I feel BETTER. And that's what matters. Well, I'd prefer The Baby's first sentence NOT be "Fuck off."

So far, so good.

as long as she doesn't say it in front of your parents it might be funny.

Julie, you at least have the medication to blame. All I've got is my own foul-assed mouth and warped sense of perspective.

I'm looking forward to reading what your new blend allows you to say:-)

(ooo...playing with yardage...I like this game...unless, of course, the yarn has been discontinued...then it becomes sort of a "Quest for Debbie Bliss Chunky Cashmerino!!!" And the new yarn is just gorgeous!)

Well, my mother is a queen of creative cussing - southern style. My first word was "sh*t" It hasn't scarred me too bad.

Keep the yarn coming!

Oh, the yarn is totally discontinued. I'm doing a pattern that can be knit by any yarn that knits at 5 sts to the inch, so in that respect it's okay, but if I run out, I'm doomed.

Thing is, when allowed to choose my own tension (like now), I always knit up yarn more loosely than suggested. Which USUALLY results in using much less yardage than suggested. So my figures might be right.

But I plan to use it all up anyway, on an extra-deep cowlish neck. Oops. Giving away design details. Forget you read that.

We all know the baby's first words are going to be "Sekhmet, you fucker". The question is when.

my niece's first words (and she was the first grandchild of my mom and dad...) was OH SHIT - proper intonation and everything. After that my brother and sister-in-law figured it was time to clean up their language. But I agree that when it comes to those elementary school projects where the kid has to write what their first word was, lack of censoring necessity would be a good thing.

Tribble. I love it.

And I'm the one with the potty mouth in my household, but that's because my husband can go to work and swear there, whereas I'm stuck here. Lacking a soundproof room, what are you gonna do? My children know how to use these words in perfect context. They also know that it's entirely hypocritical for me to tell them not to say them (because I've explained that term), but that's the way it is, anyway.

When my little girl was thhat age she looked at me with her sweet face and said: " motherfucker" I was stunned so she said it again... we then had a long talk about things we do not say in front of others...gotta tell ya after the shock wore off it was pretty dammed funny...

OH OH OH the colors are SOOOOOO pretty!! And I agree that Netter's yarn is delicious! I love its squishyness.

Your colors are just luscious.

Ah, I feel caught. OK, DD didn't say "Fuck off," but the other day she did shorten my "Goddammit!" to "Dammit? Dammit, Mommy?"

I just ignored her. I didn't say anything. I figure if I don't acknowledge it, she'll forget it.

yeah right.

I think creative swearing is hysterical! Have at it!
