Swoon.

I just ordered a spinning wheel.

Then to round things off, I hit Schoolhouse Press and bought a bunch of books. (A BUNCH.) I intended to get, like, three. But I'm spending the tax return mad money and would see something I liked and say "what the heck" and order it. I think I ended up with five more books I had no intention of buying. Including another book on sock knitting. I'm halfway through my first sock and have already got five or six books on socks. I need another one?

Plus I got "Victorian Lace Today" so as not to be the only person on earth who hasn't seen it yet. (I intend to knit a Christmas present with a pattern out of it, and possibly a state fair entry.)

Now I'm heading out to Knit, a local yarn store I've never been to.

I'll probably buy sock yarn. Geez.

What I really need is a book on spinning.

Oh. And I just found out there's a local knitters' reatreat at the local beach this month. Hmmm.

I just followed your link on the spinning wheel - you're getting a hitchhiker! I got mine at SAFF06 and love it so far. Hope you enjoy it.

Don't buy sock yarn, wait until you win 15 skeins from me.

Let me know if you're going to do the retreat...

Best spinning book I've found so far is Spin to Knit by Shannon Okey (but I'm using a spindle). Most important thing so far - If you have long hair, tie it back!

oh no. Now I will be the only person on the planet who doesn't have Victorian Lace Today. I'm not allowed (says I) to buy any more knitting books until I've reached a certain goal I'm working towards. Now I feel so left out.

And I want some mad money to spend on books.

It's not fair.

I'm pouting.

I can't wait to hear what you think of Victorian Lace Today. I just got mine this week (finally!) and I absolutely love it! Even my grumpy non-knitting husband thinks it's a pretty awesome book - and he just looks at the pictures. I also can't wait to see what you knit from it ... maybe instead of knitting anything from it myself, I'll just live vicariously through you! I'm a bit frightened of lace, but if I can conquer socks, I suppose I can do anything.

Knitters' retreat at the beach? I'd hate you if I weren't such a *snow dog.

Our beach is a little cold for retreats this weekend. Tomorrow's high temps are supposed to be 10 to 15 degrees. Woo hoo!

*snow dog: think Husky dog that curls up in a ball in the snow to sleep and thinks 20 degrees is sunbathing weather.
