It shrank almost instantly and is now too small for the Goober to wear. It's in the trash. I'm telling myself it was a learning project and I learned so it was a success, but I'm too pissed off to believe myself.
I think I just trashed a batch of wool, too.

Ack! Too small for even a teddy bear to wear? Too small for a doll dress?
That's tragic. My mum washed a koigu sock I made her a few months ago...I was mortified. What I do when I over-felt is let it sit for a while so I'm no longer angry, then cut it up into fun things like flowers and hearts and stick them on magnets. After a while, you start to laugh at your own mistakes...whenever you open the fridge. (I do it alot)
D'oh!
Um, so what did you do to the wool?
Oh what?! No! What about a baby you know?
paige has a point--hell--if nothing else, stitch and crop the sleeves and you've got an awesome project bag!! (But I understand the total heartbreak...you really loved that sweater!)
Fish it out of the trash and send it to me and I'll make a tea-cozy out of it. Or make your own tea-cozy. Or showcase it on the blog and give a prize for the most creative use of a forshrunken sweater
How frustrating.
I would have stuffed it and made a pillow out of it. Your first hand spun project. That's tragic you threw it away.
