ATTENTION, PLEASE:

If you have really long hair, it is best to avoid snagging it in the wool you are spinning. It will suck into the spinner head, twist around horrendously, and snag in the flyer hooks. All while your head is being sucked toward the wheel as you desperately try to quit treadling and go backward.

Thank you. That will be all.

Sounds painful, thanks for the heads up on this - I'll try to remember it in the future when I buy a spinning wheel (after I buy a house that has the space to put it...)

You should maybe consider knitting yourself a snood? Ouchies! Yes, I have long hair... and the tales I could tell! Have you ever set yours on fire? Accidentally, of course!

(word verification is lolwqrjo, which is actually pretty close to the sound I made when I read your warning)

Yeah. And as a fellow possessor of hair that gets caught in the back of my jeans, I highly recommend restraining the long hair when using an electric drill.

Oh my! And I thought it irritating when my dropped hairs got into the wool. But hair still attached to the head... Ow!

Do you still have long hair? :)

mmm, yeah I found this out when I spindled but it's not the sort of thing you remember (other than an instinctive "tie hair back" reaction)

Oh, ouch! Dare I ask how much damage was done?

Two things: Is your hair still attached to your head, and could you hear Sekhmet laughing her mean-kitty ass off as far away as Delaware?

I'm sorry this happened, but thank you, my children are being extra naughty today and I need a "sneork" type of laugh. And I will have to remember that when I spin from now on, yikes.

That sort of thing will scar for life, I tell ya.

Oww. I never thought of that. Must be why you always see old time photos of women with their hair in kerchiefs.

Once I was able to stop laughing, I also wondered if you still have long hair...

thanks for the visual...

who rescued you? or did you have to un-spin to get free? ouch.

Just as well I don't spin. I've sewn my own hair into projects, but the sewing machine doesn't tend to such you in, luckily.
