Right then.

So I've been dealing with drug-resistant pneumonia for the last month. With asthma for an extra dose of excitement. First I was out of it from the fever, and then the drugs. Good times. I'd just about shaken off the Prednisone side effects, and, well. My brother died today. It's probably gonna be a week or two before I start blogging again.

But, that's where I am. Just imagine me sitting on the couch, huffing on an inhaler. With the cat on me. Cranking out yards of garter stitch.

  1. Garter stitch has great healing properties. You could stand croon "Ommm"to get similar tranquility and comfort, but you wouldn't have anyknitting to show fort.

My heart goes out to you, dear. May health, strength and comfort be yours.

  22. Oh, Julie. I have been so worried about you. I live with a nasty resistant bug in my lungs, so I have been there, big-time. Losing your brother on top of that is just unfair.
All you can do is wait this out; garter stitch (or circular stockinette) is the perfect meditation method.
We really really do miss you when you're gone. May I suggest that you blog about your brother? That might help you.

  33. Now I am caught up, and so sad for you and him and the whole thing. I don't know what to say. Be kind to yourself. You are loved and held in my heart.

  34. I'm so very sorry. Give yourself time. Be gentle with yourself and remember to eat and sleep. It's easy to take care of everyone else and forget that you are grieving. I've been there and it is a journey. Sometimes it takes a while for it to sink in that he is gone. When my husband died I think the 2nd year was harder than the first year. I was in shock. It just took time for reality to set in. Everyone is different I have found out when it comes to loosing a loved one. So don't expect anything and don't be surprised by anything. Don't let people's remarks upset you. They want to help and don't know what to say.
I'm sending hugs to you and your family. Take care, Carol
