Apparently someone got into my Google account. So passwords have been changed, and I've been verified, and blah de blah.

    Hm. You got off easy. Last week I had to cut up my debit card and get a new one, because my bank picked up some spending that was definitely not mine. Oh well, at least I didn't lose much -- and the bank covered me.
