So, my beloved test audience...

Anyone got a name for this yarn?

It's sort of like Easter Egg Rainbow, but the color repeat is waaaaay shorter, and the colors are murkier. Plus the places where the colors meet are strange - darker, or unblended, or just strange.

Ideas?

And while we're at it, if you're purchasing sets of stitch markers, how many do you want? I usually use stitch markers when I'm doing Percentage System style sweaters, and so I need four - one for each underarm edge, with one of them different to mark the beginning of the round. Or just one to mark the beginning of a round.

Thoughts? Anyone?

  1. How about Day of the Dead Easter Egg? Sets of 4 sounds about right, when I need more, its almost always in multiples of 4.

  2. I was going to say 5 with one of them the odd man out.

  3. Haha, and the first suggestion is a winner! Day of the Dead Easter Egg yarn is now for sale at Etsy.

    Excellent name. Thanks, Deb.

  4. I was going to suggest Coloring Book Rainbow because the darkness between the colors made me think of the dark lines in the coloring books. I always hated that coloring book rainbows always had four sections for color, but my box of crayons had all seven colors actually found in the rainbow. I don't use markers often, but when I do its usually only one to mark the beginning of the round or one on each side (2) to mark shaping that is not yet incorporated into the pattern. I'd suggest doing some really special ones and selling them in groups of two :)

  5. Right now I'm using 7 stichmarkers I think - a lace thing with borders and 6 repeats...
I was going to suggest something about attention deficit easter egg because the changes are so rapid that it might be good for those of us with little attention...

  6. Oh... I was thinking funky tartan... coz it looks like tartan to me!

And sets of 4 are good with me. Although when I make them I make 4 the same and one bigger/different for the beginning of the round marker.

  7. How about "Ring-Around-the-Rainbow"?

  8. You crack me up! I like the idea of one stitch marker larger for the beginning of rows/rounds - so how about 4 markers plus one that's different somehow?

  9. I was going to say Kaleidoscope. Even though you have a winner, I thought perhaps it might fit another yarn down the line.

I like lots of stitch markers because I lose them. :)

  10. Well I would just say Rainbow, but you probably want something more creative. The other ideas are all really good! :) That is so cool how the yarn turned out, by the way!

  11. Louiz that's a great idea to have one slightly larger. How inspired!

DotDEE is the acronym. I like that!

  12. I'm useless, I either don't use stitch markers, or I use multiple needles, so the end of the needle is the stitch marker, or I use pieces of contrasting crochet thread as my stitch markers. Not much help there, eh?

Hope that made some kind of sense, I had a mild migraine this morning, and I can't type at all. It's all backspacing!

  13. Hm... Grateful Dead
    Sleepy Rainbow
    A Manic Depressive's coloring book
    Pastel Nap
Spawn of the Promiscuous Bumblebee (think flowers)
And... (think think think think) Pooh-Bear's Technicolor Honeypot

hmmm... in terms of stitch markers? I think 6 would be a good number--I've never needed less than five.

  14. I second Amy on the Pooh Bear option (freaking love it!) and the six markers.

  15. Aww, I didn't even get a chance to chime in! Fine, I'll keep my neat idea to myself *pout*

  16. Mine included the word vomit so it's probably best that I missed the boat! When I make stitch markers I make them in sets of 6 because I'm OCD about even numbers.

  17. I immediately thought of Lucky Charms when I saw the yarn. Green clover, blue diamond, purple horseshoe, etc... I can't remember yellow.

  18. I like the Dead Easter Egg--mine was going to be something like Rainbo-a-go-go but I am still working on it. Stitchmarkers are my best friend. Right now I have 20 on a blanket because I have ADKD (attention deficit knitting disease) and can't keep track of when to knit and purl on this stupid pattern.
